Thanks a ton for popping over to learn more about the person behind Method Fitness and Wellness. Maybe a service we provide caught your eye. Or maybe you saw a particular perspective that resonated with you and you wanted to learn more about the person behind it. Whatever the reason, you're wondering if we're the right fit for you.
Let's start with why you may want to pass on us. If you're not open to exploring what's possible, someone else may be a better fit. If going it alone is the way to success in your book, we don't do that (but give me a chance to change your mind!). Or, if it's 'you're way or the highway', we'd love to hear your thoughts, but the chances of a long-term partnership may not be in the cards.
You see, I've tried those methods. They didn't pan out for me so well.
I prefer where I am now.
I love being a health and wellness coach and practitioner.
I'm passionate about helping you create healthy, sustainable systems for living well.
What get me up in the morning is learning more about and practicing all aspects of health and wellness: fitness, nutrition, sleep, stress management, mindfulness, relationships and overall energy management so we all can bring our best selves to each other and the day.
But my ability to manage my health and wellness didn't happen overnight for me. It won't for you either.
It's not because it's hard, it's because it's important. And important things take some focus and effort. And change. (BTW, we have tools for this no matter where you are along your journey).
So yeah, I've had my share of ups and downs. Not everything worked out for me at first. But, I found the right combination to help me through each situation and goal.
I would find myself laser-focused on what I thought was the way to go. This served me in some ways at the time but blinded me to other options and paths. I locked myself into one way approach. When I started meditating, being more deliberate about spending time doing NOTHING, and resting, my attention expanded to new possibilities.
I chased every new health and wellness fad. Except I'd quit in a week, frustrated when I saw something new come out. Time down the drain seeing new contradictory information come out. When I started doing my research earlier, before making a decision to change a lifestyle habit, I became more consistent about my lifestyle changes because I stopped reacting to contradictory information.
I gave up on any progress I would make after about a week. I found I couldn't keep up with it. The problem was, I ended up disrupting my life more than helping because I was forcing lifestyle changes where they didn't fit or belong. I started to look beyond just the change I wanted to make and observed the daily systems I already had in place. This let me simply tweak a new habit or make changes to my existing systems so new habits fit better into my life.
I tried every supplement that promised to be the magic pill I needed to live longer. But when I started paying more attention to the science, I realized these products lacked evidence that the supplements worked for humans, or at all. After wasting a bunch of money, I started looking at stronger evidence that showed other ways to live longer that worked. So, I started to exercise more, focusing on increasing my VO2 max, and getting better sleep. Besides feeling better now, I feel like I have a more stable foundation for a longer, healthier life.
I occasionally was afraid to take on new challenges because I didn't feel certain I was going to succeed. So, I just never started and I held myself back from so many potential opportunities. It wasn't until I formed relationships with supporters and people who took time to coach me along the way that I started to feel more confident that I could take on new challenges. Perfect examples: starting a new career and starting my own business.
I tackled every new challenge by myself. Until I realized this caused me to approach every challenge with one arm tied behind my back. I was limiting myself to a single point of view. Unknowingly, I was reducing my perspectives and options to a single way of looking at an issue. My approaches were biased by what I knew only. Then I started working with a coach. Only then was I able to explore new ways of thinking about the challenges I was facing. I suddenly thought about things from new angles and not only successfully accomplished the goals I had set for myself, but I also reduced my stress by not trying to solve everything by myself.
So, you see, we all have our battles. But the battles that work out better for us are the ones where we show up prepared and with the tools we need to get the job done.
You too can be more rested and relaxed. In a better state to be open to fresh ideas and explore the possibilities within you.
You too can break through the clutter of contradictory information and get directly to what you need to know to make decisions that can prevent illness and improve your health and wellness.
You too can increase your chances that you'll stick to your wellness plan by putting action plans and systems in place.
You too can increase your chances of living longer, having more time with friends, family, and enjoying what life has to offer.
You too can be more confident and outcome-driven. You can have self-efficacy, knowing you can be successful in your pursuits.
And finally, you too can have a partner in your journey toward better health and wellness.
I hope you'll join me on this journey.
In health and wellness,
Chris
